Hail to the Kingpin?!
Occasionally, Kingpin will show up on the side of the screen to yell at the minions. When this happens, their strength increases, so watch out!
There are 4 main areas to really watch out for in this Mission. The 5th area in is a long curved shaped rooftop, where multiple waves of enemies will attack. Just when you think you're safe, another wave drops in. The next area has a big canister of boosts and a handful of minions, but more will continually drop in, especially boxers. Getting surrounded by these guys is fatal if you can't get out of the crowd, or don't have a hero with a wide ranged Hero-Up. The very next area, you'll hand semi-surrounded by boxer minions. You'll want to jump over them to avoid getting surrounded. The last area of this stage is a rooftop with nothing but charger minions. Keep moving, no matter what, target one at a time, and try to keep an eye on the others. These guys do a TON of damage. |
Hail to the Kingpin is a tough Mission. Though Kingpin himself is pretty straightforward and easy to dodge, he has minions everywhere that will charge you, throw bombs, or just straight up punch you with boxing gloves on.
Stage 1 is area after area of minions. The key is to keep moving... if you hold still for too long, you will get hit, and in the areas with the charger minions, this is especially fatal. One area early in is a rooftop that has one minion and a good handful of boost containers. Twice, you'll encounter an enemy-less area with a couple of boosts and a bunch of stars. |
Finally, Kingpin himself will come out and attack, alone at first, then with minions dropping in. He's a pretty easy boss on his own, so try to do a lot of damage before the minions start dropping. He'll warn you with vocal phrases before he does any attack, and you can dodge them all.

The next Stage consists Kingpin sitting at his desk behind bulletproof glass, continually calling in new waves of minions to attack you. They will be a random mixed assortment, but they leave plenty of health food drops and there is a brief pause between waves.
The last wave before Kingpin emerges though is all boxers. Do NOT let these guys surround you... if you get caught in the middle of them and can't get out, and don't have an ability to clear or stun them, it's sure death. |
Attacks and Cues
When he says "You'll Pay for Crossing Me." - Spin attack, hitting all nearby heroes multiple times.
When he says "Kingpin Punch" - Punches forward, causing damage.
When he says "Here Comes the Big Guy" - Jumps in the air towards a random hero, causing heavy damage if he hits on or very close near them.
When he says "This Cane Isn't Just for Walking" - Throws his cane forward, causing minor damage and stunning for a few moments if it hits.
Also, occasional stops to laugh for several seconds... perfect time to attack!
Playing Tips
- Never hold still for long! It makes it hard to rack up a combo, I know, but it's worth it when you take less damage!
- Avoid slow melee characters! Hulk may cause a lot of damage, but he doesn't dodge the minions well either. Quick characters are your friends here.
- Ranged characters do work well on this Mission, but are not required. In fact, some of the minions get right up on you, making ranged harder to pull off.
