Dr. Doom
He's a master villain with power armor and sorcerous skill. Call him... Doctor Doom!
Born into a Latverian gypsy clan and to a father who was a medicine man and a mother who practiced witchcraft, Victor Von Doom was automatically destined to combine science and magic like no man before him AND after him. Despite the hardships of gypsy life, as well as losing both of his parents right before his teens, Victor honed his genius in many scientific (as well as arcane) areas. And eventually, Victor earned a foreign exchange scholarship to State University all the way in the United States. It would be there and on his first ever day of college where Victor Von Doom would meet Reed Richards. And despite Reed’s initial and constant offers of friendship, Victor snubbed him and instantly declared him his arch-rival. One fateful day, Reed walked by Victor’s dorm, and saw the calculations for a major experiment Victor was preparing to conduct later that evening and saw a few mistakes. Victor believed Reed was trying to sabotage his experiment, would not have any of his classmate’s warnings, and proceeded with the undertaking. The ensuing results were quite dire…Victor famously lost his face in his experiment’s explosion, which also destroyed the dorm and a great portion of its housing building. And what little good reputation Victor did amass at State University was instantly gone to the point of the dean expelling him and ordering him to never be seen around the campus again. Naturally with all of his already amounting dislike, then hate, for Reed Richards, Victor decreed every last one of his bad fortunes at State University and in the United States to all be Reed’s fault and, and swore he would prove himself to be Reed’s superior and get his revenge in the process one day. But beforehand, Victor knew he had to tend to his physical and personal injuries, and set out on a soul-searching trip to Tibet. There, Victor would happen upon a legendary group of mystical monks. In the company of those monks, Victor not only worked his way to the top of their hierarchy, but also commanded them to teach him everything magical they knew, and forge his first ever set of armor. When the final piece of that armor, the trademark mask, was set, Victor placed it upon his face, not even waiting for it to cool. And it was at that very moment Victor Von Doom completed his metamorphosis into Doctor Doom, and not only the utmost arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four, but also one of the most nefarious villains to ever reside within the Marvel Universe.

Mission StrengthsDr. Doom is a wicked man in many respects. And with the attacks he possesses, he certainly does not have time nor need to rest. Victor’s only single digit Hit Point eraser is the very first laser he shoots from his right gauntlet for only 7 HP. From there, he turns into one of SHSO’s fastest star builders thanks to a left gauntlet laser for 10 HP, lightning from both gauntlets at a combined 22 HP (11 HP each), a 28 HP flamethrower, and a 33 HP lethal energy crackling, flying armor ramming. All of those can be performed within five or so seconds, and makes for a near automatic five stars, when no power attacks are used in the process.
As with his Future Foundation counterpart, Classic Victor’s Power Attacks each have their individual advantages. His P1, with its magnetic-like grab and brief knockdown in the form of a throw to the ground, taking out 13 HP and 26 HP respectively, catches nearly any minion defenseless and can be used against multiple enemies when aimed properly. P2 not only deals 24 HP out of nowhere towards minions surrounding Doom and stuns those minions for a second, but also has the nifty bonus of providing a quick armor boost for Victor and his teammates. P3 is not only very similar to FF Doom’s P3 right down to the glorious and never tiresome shout of “IT’S DOOM’S DAY!!” (Victor’s voice is honestly one of THE BEST in SHSO), but besides dishing out 61 HP, is better in having a larger range and can stun enemies for several seconds. Last, but certainly not least at all is Doom’s Hero-Up, which consists of a few radio-controlled meteors showering minions to the tune of 21 HP, and accompanied by a troop of Doombots firing 5 HP lasers at any and everything for just under a minute until they self-destruct. |
Basic Combo Total: -106Hp
Hand of Doom: –39Hp and brief Knockdown. Mystic Armor: -24Hp, brief Stun, and Armor Boost. Doomwave: -61Hp and stunning all enemies in a sizable radius. Hero Up: –21Hp, 5Hp times however many attacks in under a minute. Mission WeaknessesOverall, Classic Doom does not have any super glaring weaknesses. His health tolerance could be better, and he therefore requires careful handling typical of most ranged characters. But unlike his FF twin, Classic Victor is considerably quicker to recover from being knocked down. Doom’s most sizable flaw might actually be his Hero-Up. As fun as the notion of leading a militia of Doombots is, at the same time, it proves to be more of a novelty than really a highly effective means of eliminating enemies. Besides not making for the most damaging HU, the Doombots can also get in the way between your teammates and minions, robbing the teammates of fair chances to attack.

Playing Tips
- Victor’s health tolerance is certainly not the puniest, but it is not the strongest either. So taking advantage of Doom’s being a ranged fighter and trying not to get super close to enemies while star building is most recommended.
- P1 is best utilized with end of stage minions and when the boss has only a sliver of health left on his/her meter.
- P2 is not only great for having Victor being a team player for a change with its armor boost, but also is most effective against smaller enemies like the Mini MODOKs, Mini Ultron/Titanium Man plane-bots, Skrull planes, etc.
- P3 is overall the best general/most frequent use Power Attack, with not only its immense damage and range, but also and especially its stun ability. Although it costs three stars with use, it should be no problem at all with Doom’s speedy star building.
- As ridiculously fun and humorous as the Hero-Up is, honestly try to avoid using it super often for it really hampers more than helps, especially on missions with teams of three or four heroes.
- As always with all other heroes, do your very best to avoid having Victor get knocked down when and if you can.
