Stage 1 takes place on the rooftops. You hope along from one to another, taking out Magneto's metal minions. It's pretty standard and straightforward. War Machine swoops in constantly dropping bombs, so keep an eye on where the Do Not Stand circles are on the ground around you, so you don't get hit.
On the 3rd rooftop, after you wipe out all the crushbots and legion bots, a handful of Iron Man Mk I's will fly in for you to knock out. The next rooftop will be invaded by Stealth Armor Iron Men once all the normal enemies are gone,. The following rooftop has no Iron Men, but does have a blue crushbot, the kind that love to do knock down on you. |
Magneto's stolen all of Iron Man's armors, and golly is there a lot of them. Who needs 4 copies of the same suit? In addition to Magneto's usual crushbots, Ultron legion bots, and flying toasters and irons, we now get to take on Iron Man costumes too, usually one per each party member. They use all of powers of Iron Man as a hero, but not as powerful. |
Magneto is pretty simple, and great for melee characters. He can chase you around, but he tends to stay in the middle of the fighting area and hit from there. His biggest attack is the Rain from the Sky, because the meterors he calls can not only hit you when they call, but they'll shoot after you a few moments after they land if you don't break them first.
Every once in awhile, Magneto falls down when you hit him. It seems to be random when it happens, but take advantage of it! He doesn't attack at all when it happens. Every few minutes, a group of enemy Iron suits will drop in one one of the side circles to help their metal master. They attack as their heroes do, but for less damage. If you have Magneto's health low enough, ignore them and concentrate on him. |
After the Crushbot rooftop, there's only two more rooftops to this Stage (and this only a 2-Stage Mission). The next one is the one you need to save your HU for, since with all the toasters and pots and irons incoming, it is way too easy for one to end up getting caught off level. If that happens and you can't kill it via HU or AOE attack, it's Mission over for you, with no rewards.
The last rooftop of this Stage is the end-Stage zone. After all the enemies are eliminated, the Hulkbuster Iron Men swoop in to lay down some hurt. They have a wicked spin attack that they can whip out, which causes some good damage and knocks you down, so watch out for that. |
Attacks and Cues
When he says "EM Disruptur." - Extends his right arm directly in front of him, and shoots a laser beam.
When he says "Rain from the Sky" - He'll spin in a circle and a bunch of Do Not Stand Here circles appear on the ground around him. Meteors will then fall out of the sky and onto those spots.
When he says "Magnetic Shield" - The damage he takes is minimized slightly.
When he throws his right hand at you - He seems to throw a ball of Magnetic energy at one person for minor damage.
Playing Tips
- Keep a Hero Up handy for toasters and irons who get stuck off the level. Hero Ups that have a screen-wide range are best.
- Unlike the other Magneto Missions, Iron Men drop in as minions during this boss fight. Watch for them, since they can gang up on you and take you down.
- When Magneto summons the Meteors, they will hover for a few moments, then jet off to hit your characters. You can dodge them, but it's better to break them while they're just hovering there first.
